Mortgage Fulfillment Underwriter (Eastern Time Zone Required)
We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Fulfillment Underwriter to ensure all reviewed assets meet investor, agency, and regulatory guidelines. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering accurate, high‑quality underwriting decisions while maintaining full compliance and supporting a consistent, customer‑focused loan process. This position requires strong technical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of underwriting standards across multiple loan products.
DE Certification is required for this role.
Role ResponsibilitiesThe Underwriter will:
Underwrite and decision a full range of mortgage loans, including FHA loans
Review mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Partner with clients and internal teams to gather outstanding documentation and resolve conditions
Ensure all loan materials meet Federal, State, and Local compliance requirements
Issue timely and accurate loan approvals or denials
Maintain adherence to agency, investor, and company guidelines
Support a culture aligned with organizational values and operational excellence
Must be able to work Eastern Time Zone hours.
Required SkillsMortgage industry and underwriting expertise
DE Underwriter experience (required)
Credit review and risk assessment
Proficiency with DU (Desktop Underwriter) and LP (Loan Prospector)
Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
High School Diploma required
Solid understanding of mortgage underwriting principles
Experience using automated underwriting systems
Knowledge of mortgage laws and regulations, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA)
Familiarity with state and federal agency guidelines (FHA, VA, Conventional)
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Detroit, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.00 - $35.00/hr.
