Under limited supervision and working remotely, this position is responsible for performing audits (in‑person and virtually) on Property / Casualty Commercial Line policies in accordance with company, industry and government rules and regulations. The audits will ensure accurate earned premiums, appropriate classifications and exposures, ranging in scope from small accounts to larger complex audits. All duties will be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

• Manage, schedule and conduct physical or virtual audits for selected Commercial Lines policies based on auditable exposures. The audit consists of reviewing the insured’s business operations, examining and recording data from financial or business records, evaluating all subcontractor operations and detailing exposures according to manual rules, verifying claims data, and determining or developing premium basis and classification – all in accordance with company, industry and government rules and regulations.
• Manage and schedule territory and inventory to optimize efficiencies, meet auditor expectations and satisfy internal and external customer needs. Responsible for automobile travel within the territory to insured locations, which represents approximately 70‑80% of the employee’s time.
• Upon audit completion, provide the underwriting team with notification of any changes in exposures, business operations, products/services, additional or deleted classifications, locations, entities, new construction, etc.
• Respond to and resolve audit disputes; compile pertinent facts, documents and communications and prepare amended audits for billing. Resolve test audit disputes for non‑National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) states.
• Maintain a positive customer relationship and develop relationships with internal and external customers to provide ongoing technical expertise.
• Utilize the automated premium audit work management system, commercial lines automated system and other tools to complete assignments in accordance with established goals.
• Develop, apply and maintain a working knowledge of the company’s premium audit technical policies and procedures and demonstrate an understanding of the property/casualty insurance business.
• Assist or may lead in Premium Audit projects; prepare and present basic level technical presentations and participate in premium audit training programs to internal and external customers on a variety of Premium Audit topics and issues.
• Serve as a resource, trainer and mentor for Premium Auditors at the direction of the Premium Audit Supervisors.

• Remain informed with all insurance manuals, premium audit manuals, handbooks, guides and related materials.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work independently without direct supervision.
• Proficiency in the use of computer tools, including Microsoft Excel and internet research applications.
• Able to climb stairs and consistently carry 20 pounds.
• Must be able to travel to insureds’ offices on a daily basis within the assigned territory, or outside the assigned territory depending on inventory levels, which may require overnight travel.
