Job DescriptionThrough its US subsidiary, Atradius Trade Credit Insurance Inc, an experienced credit professional will join our Underwriting Team as a Senior Underwriter. In this role you will work in a professional environment where every contribution is valued.
Key Responsibilities- Act as the Risk liaison to the Corporates team, the broker community, and prospective customers on qualifying Deal team submissions to manage demands and expectations related to risk underwriting, pending Credit Committee decisions, and recommended risk appetite.
- Evaluate and approve new limit requests within delegated authorities and serve as Key Account Underwriter for first line appeals on all drafted declinations while adding value to the appeal process by identifying key shortfalls for which we lack information and expediting the appeals.
- Regularly monitor Deal Team inflow and outflow to ensure credit capacity is allocated appropriately and time stamped.
- Provide weekly Deal Team updates to the Commercial and Risk teams with respect to the current pipeline, bound premium, and relay recent trends as a way to drive new strategies and edge out competition.
- Deliver as the RS5 Core Member for the Worldwide Indications Platform with authority resting over submitting appeals for U.S. prospective customers and reviewing U.S. buyer appeals.
- Participate in any relevant calls, broker visits, or prospective customer meetings to drive optimal conversion rates and Risk Excellence.
- Manage onboarding activities and Hold Cover exercises for newly bound policies.
- Spearhead our weekly Worst Rated Buyer List and ensure feedback is provided by all necessary stakeholders within the deadlines stated.
- A high level understanding of major industry specific portfolios of corporate credits while establishing an appropriate underwriting strategy to assume risk, control the loss ratio, and support our business objectives.
- Identify appropriate market intelligence to support sustainable and real‑time underwriting strategies.
- Analyze corporate financial statements, annual reports and press reports to establish an opinion on the underlying creditworthiness of risks assumed.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of all components of financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow & notes).
- Leverage soft credit information using credit rating methodology, proprietary information sources, industry specific credit bureaus, and bottom‑up underwriting strategies to maximize Risk Excellence.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance or economics, and 5 years of commercial credit and/or commercial lending experience with an emphasis on financial analysis.
- Master’s degree and/or Credit/Finance Certificate from an accredited organization.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills are critical for the position as you will be providing regular updates and recommendations to our Risk and Country Directors.
- Annual Salary: $85,000 - $115,000 based on experience and location, plus potential annual bonus.
- Hybrid in‑person/remote work schedule with periodic ‘all hands’ office days required.
- Generous paid time off policy with a minimum of three weeks of vacation for all regular, full‑time employees plus 11 scheduled and 8 floating holidays, and 45 hours of sick leave annually.
