Position: Controller (Consulting / Client Engagement Focus)

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Controller for our client, a rapidly growing consulting firm delivering transformation, transaction, and compliance advisory services to middle‑market organizations. This is a wonderful full‑time, direct‑hire,

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Controller will serve as a client‑facing finance leader responsible for managing consulting engagements from planning through delivery while ensuring quality, driving results, and managing client expectations. This role offers the opportunity to work across diverse industries, providing both technical accounting and strategic financial guidance. The Controller will partner closely with firm leadership and clients to implement accounting solutions, support financial decision‑making, and expand service offerings within existing accounts in a dynamic, fast‑paced consulting environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead client accounting and finance consulting engagements, managing projects from scoping and planning through execution and delivery while overseeing multiple concurrent deadlines.
  • Design and implement accounting solutions addressing complex GAAP and financial reporting requirements and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and primary liaison between clients and engagement teams.
  • Support business development efforts, including identifying new opportunities within existing accounts, contributing to proposals, and participating in client presentations.
  • Deliver financial analysis and modeling including budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, and profitability assessments to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Oversee internal controls, audit readiness, and compliance initiatives for client organizations.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership on growth strategy, pipeline development, and market positioning.
  • Provide ongoing advisory support and account management, including onboarding, transition planning, and issue resolution.
  • Design and improve reporting tools and processes to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery.
  • Mentor and train team members while coordinating internal resources across accounting, finance, and operational teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting, finance, or consulting experience.
  • CPA or CIA strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting and/or publicly traded company experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance programs.
  • Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, and financial analytics tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required; advanced degree preferred.
COMPENSATION

This position offers a competitive base salary of $130,000 plus annual bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, 401(k), and additional benefits.
