Billing Analyst

Retail energy! Growing! Located in central Houston this organization pays for lunch daily and you work from home on Fridays! We’re looking for a dynamic and ambitious individual to join our team.

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and analyticalBilling Analystto join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, auditing, and validating electricity bills, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery. You will work closely with operations, customer service, finance and other internal departments to support efficient billing processes and strong customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and validate invoices with high accuracy and attention to detail
• Investigate and resolve billing errors, irregular meter reads, and customer disputes
• Collaborate with utilities to address missing or incorrect usage data
• Analyze customer accounts, rate structures, and tariff applications
• Ensure billing compliance with state and utility regulations
• Maintain documentation, reports, and audit trails for billing processes
• Provide support for system upgrades, billing software enhancements, and testing
• Generate monthly billing performance reports and metrics
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to streamline billing operations
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Data Analytics, or related field
• 1–3 years of experience in utility billing, energy management, or financial analysis
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
• Ability to interpret consumption data and rate/tariff structures
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred:

• Experience with utility billing systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Utilities, Revenue Manager, Intelometry, etc.)
• Familiarity with deregulated electricity market rules
• SQL or data analysis tools experience
