NMPP Energy, located in Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking a Billing Analyst to join our team. Use your skills, experience, and talents to manage complex billing processes, reconcile meter and participant data, ensure accuracy and compliance, and collaborate across departments to provide reliable billing and usage information to our Participants.
The Billing Analyst supports the mission of NMPP Energy by:- Collecting and processing meter data; verifying missing or unusual data; compiling monthly billing and credits for Participants; monitoring and tracking loss factors to ensure accuracy; and updating, maintaining, and ensuring the accuracy of determinant data within billing software.
- Reviewing, analyzing, verifying, and coding complex transactions for assigned invoices, including Participant generation and transmission bills; ensuring proper recording in accordance with accounting and other regulatory standards; and allocating transmission and ancillary service costs to Participants.
- Reviewing and verifying Participant generation fuel logs; tracking generation volumes; ensuring the accuracy of fuel credits to Participants; and coordinating with the Operations department to resolve issues, implement modifications, and support Participant training related to generation procedures.
- Verifying and distributing monthly meter data reports to Participants and counter parties; and responding to data requests from Participants and transmission counter parties.
- Participating in applicable market settlement and transmission meetings with regional transmission organizations, external vendors, and other counter parties.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university, with 3–5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet-based applications.
- Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze complex spreadsheets, including the use of formulas and macros.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and resolve complex data or billing issues.
- Experience reviewing, reconciling, and coding invoices or financial transactions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and applicable regulatory standards.
- Ability to acquire, apply, and retain knowledge of accounting principles and financial systems.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and work productively with external counter parties and vendors.
