SUMMARYReporting to the Accounting Manager, the Grant and Contract Accountant supports Iona’s local, federal and private funded programs by developing and monitoring grant budgets, managing personnel allocations tied to each grant, and ensuring accurate compliance, financial reporting, and audit support across multiple programs.
Telework Status:
This is a hybrid in-person and remote position. The hybrid schedule will be dictated by the business needs of Iona with consideration of the employee’s preferences.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain budgets for local, federal and private grants in collaboration with program staff.
- Track and reconcile grant expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Monitor personnel and fringe allocations charged to grants; maintain accurate tracking and documentation.
- Support budget modifications, renewals, and future grant budget development as needed.
- Ensure grant financial records comply with GAAP, grant requirements, and funder guidelines.
- Prepare and support financial reports for funders and internal stakeholders.
- Assist with monthly and annual grant financial reporting for leadership review.
- Maintain organized documentation to support grant monitoring, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Support annual audits and respond to grant-related financial inquiries.
- Work closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure accurate payroll allocations and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with Program Directors and Project Directors overseeing DACL-funded programs to ensure budgets reflect program operations.
- Partner with the Grants Manager to align financial data with programmatic reporting requirements.
- Provide financial guidance to program staff related to grant budgets and allowable costs.
- Support the maintenance and improvement of grant finance tracking tools and reports.
- Assist in strengthening internal controls related to grant financial management.
- Contribute to the development of templates, trackers, and dashboards for monitoring grant performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in nonprofit grant accounting, or government-funded program finance.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, government grant compliance, and nonprofit accounting.
- Experience managing multi-program budgets and personnel allocations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel and nonprofit accounting systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
