About the RoleAs an Accountant, you’ll be responsible for advanced financial analysis, banking activities, accounting transactions and operations, and reporting to support the organization’s financial health. This role plays a key part in ensuring accuracy in financial data, optimizing processes, and providing insights for informed decision‑making. While this position does not have supervisory duties, it requires a high degree of expertise in accounting principles, financial analysis, and compliance within a nonprofit setting.
Proficiency with Quick Books Online (or similar accounting software) and Paylocity (or comparable payroll systems) is essential. This role also supports external financial audits and payroll‑related reporting.
This is a hands‑on role where you'll take ownership of key processes, approach challenges with a solutions‑oriented mindset, and contribute as part of a collaborative and supportive team. A typical day might include reviewing banking activity, analyzing and reconciling financial reports, and assisting with payroll and revenue cycles. This is a fully on‑site role based in Sacramento, CA. The position requires in‑person collaboration with teams across departments and does not offer remote work.
Key Responsibilities- Education
:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience, or a combination of education and experience). - Experience
:- Minimum of 4 years in accounting, financial analysis, or a related role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
- Experience with accounting software systems required (Quick Books Online preferred).
- Strong understanding of accounting functions, including but not limited to payroll posting and accounts receivable follow‑up.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting requirements.
- Active CPA license not required.
- Skills
:- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Quick Books online.
