Location: New Orleans

The staff accountant position is accountable for the overall financial health and the day-to‑day accounting function of office operations. The staff accountant position supports the financial health and growth of the office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Focused on accounting functions

Work collaboratively with the Managing Partner, CFO, and Accounting and Finance Team to:

  • Account for the accuracy of the accounting records of the office.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and payroll activities for staff.
  • Process financial representative commissions and allowances.
  • Administer office staff benefit plans such as medical, retirement, cafeteria plans, etc. Maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the office.
  • Monitor banking activities of the office.
  • Prepare and manage quarterly tax submissions to the IRS.
  • Work with outside accountant in the preparation and filing of the annual federal and state tax returns.
  • Educate new financial representatives on their compensation is paid through commissions, fees, and bonuses.
Focused on the financial health of the office

Work collaboratively with the Managing Partner, CFO and Accounting and Finance Team to:

  • Monitor financial representative indebtedness and process collection procedures as necessary.
  • Forecast and prepare budgets for office operations.
  • Regularly meet with leadership to analyze financial statements in comparison to budget projections and recommend adjustments and corrective action.
  • Prepare and monitor cash flow and balance sheet items.
  • Monitor and maximize cash flow on home office reimbursement plans.
QUALIFICATIONS

The qualified candidate should have:

  • Three to five years of experience in accounting, including financial statement preparation, general ledger maintenance, annual tax filings, payroll, and benefits administration.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office. Advanced Excel capabilities required.
