About the Role
The Finance Intern will support the Finance Department by assisting with financial planning, analysis, reporting, and key department initiatives. This role will also play a hands‑on part in a large General Ledger (GL) conversion project going live in May, supporting documentation, validation, reporting migration, and system enhancements. Working closely with the Finance and Accounting teams under the direction of the Finance AVP, this role provides valuable exposure to real‑world financial operations, cross‑functional collaboration, and data‑driven decision making.
This is a 12‑week, part‑time, in‑office internship based out of our Capitola location, designed for students currently enrolled at UCSC, or CSUMB.
25 hours per week;
Monday − Friday; within typical business hours between 8:30 am − 5:00 pm.
- Assist with financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities to support business decision‑making
- Support the General Ledger (GL) conversion project, including documentation, validation, and reporting migration efforts
- Help build and enhance financial reporting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Update and manage financial data within reporting systems
- Develop Excel‑based tools, including formulas and VLOOKUPs, to support forecasting and reporting automation
- Create and maintain reports, including transitioning manual Excel reports into system‑based reporting
- Analyze financial data and identify trends or insights
Collaborate with both Finance and Accounting teams to support cross‑functional initiatives - Support Finance team projects, including system implementations and process improvements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance (UCSC, or CSUMB preferred), in your third year or higher with a GPA of B or above
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas (macros a plus)
- Interest in financial systems, reporting, and process improvement
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and take initiative
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams

For Santa Cruz, CA only, the pay scale Bay Federal reasonably expects to pay for this position is $22 per hour. Salaries are based on the geographic location in which you live if working remotely.
