In the Finance-Premium Tax unit, you'll handle diverse financial and accounting tasks to control and report organizational finances, ensuring compliance with regulations and laws.
This team works with business stakeholders to plan, analyze, and prepare tax filings and ensure the related financial activities are properly managed and accounted for. The Financial Analyst will analyze and project financial, economic, and other data to provide accurate and timely information for financial reporting and operational decisions.
This opening can be filled at the Associate Financial Analyst or Financial Analyst level, dependent upon background and experience.
This position will be located at our Office in Stevens Point, WI in a hybrid work model and is not a fully remote opportunity.

What You’ll DoAs part of the Finance - Premium Tax team, you'll support Finance and Sentry by performing the following activities:
Analyzes and interprets standard financial activity and identifies trends to contribute to the overall goals of the company. Includes analysis and interpretation of budget, forecast, and actual financial performance, operating ratios and trends, and industry, competitor, and economic data.
Performs financial activities, including maintaining general ledger account balances, reconciliations, and journal entries in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules to ensure organization has a full and accurate statement of its financial position.
Assists in the preparation and filing of state premium tax returns for the Sentry group of companies.
Collects, interprets, verifies and documents data for standard reporting, including financial statements, regulatory filings, system interfaces, for internal and external reporting.
Corresponds and communicates with taxing authorities to resolve notices of other filing discrepancies.
Collaborates with other business units to consider tax implications of activities and answer tax related questions.
Leverages current and available platforms and technology to improve processes, documentation, efficiencies, and transparency of financial information.
Supports other areas within finance, especially regulatory reporting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Bachelor’s Degree in Financial service field required (Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, or Management Information Systems)
0‑2+ years of related work experience
Internship or Co‑Op experience preferred
Previous financial analysis and/or accountant experience, particularly in the insurance industry, is preferred.
Able to demonstrate research and analytical skills, including the ability to use appropriate accounting theory, practices and analytical skills to review, interpret and communicate accounting data through the application of accounting principles, theories and concepts.
Ability to work within business systems. Intermediate to advanced Excel experience and financial software experience is a plus.
Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to request, coordinate, and control data from various sources.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant designation is strongly encouraged (e.g., CIA)
