- Build and maintain actuarial models that guide pricing, valuation, and financial projections for pet insurance products.
- Analyze complex data to uncover trends, assess risk, and support strategic decisions.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to develop new products and ensure competitive pricing.
- Prepare clear, actionable insights and recommendations for leadership to drive business growth.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration and innovation through peer reviews and knowledge sharing.
- Conduct analyses that adhere to actuarial standards by selecting appropriate data sources and making assumptions to develop recommendations; note and suggest potential resolution to any unreasonable results and report to leader.
- Accurately document assumptions, methods, sources, and considerations in an organized fashion.
- Prepare and present actuarial findings and documents that are suitable for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Adhere to assigned work schedule to ensure timely completion of individual tasks and group projects; notify leadership anticipating any possible missed deadlines and potential impact.
- Perform peer reviews to increase collaboration, ensure quality work, and drive innovation.
- Build business relationships across PC multi‑channel finance and begin developing relationships in other areas of finance to gain business acumen.
- Assist with onboarding and training new associates on standard work processes.
- Use data mining techniques to identify new relationships in data; gain understanding and ability to build models in different software packages; explore new software packages; have basic knowledge of predictive modeling.
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.
- Exam progress toward ACAS designation.
- 1‑3 years of actuarial experience, ideally in P&C insurance.
- Strong technical skills in actuarial software, Microsoft Office (including VBA), and programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, with an ability to thrive in a dynamic, team‑oriented environment.
This position can be remote for applicants who bring critical industry skills and relevant experience.
Job ConditionsThis role does not qualify for employer‑sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT extension program.
CompensationInternal Compensation Grade: F4.
National salary range for Specialist, Actuarial – P&C: $88,000.00 – $.
Expected starting salary range: $88,000.00 – $.
