The Office of the Utah State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a highly skilled, trustworthy, and motivated individual to serve as a Staff Auditor to support a critical and evolving area of audit work. This individual will play a role in supporting financial and performance audit functions, while also promoting privacy practices.
Audit Responsibilities/Duties- Assist in audits of governmental entities and privacy frameworks
- Evaluate compliance with applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable policies
- Assess internal controls related to data access, storage, sharing, and protection
- Develop audit procedures and methodologies related to identified risks impacting privacy data
- Document audit test work and develop audit findings, including proposing recommendations for corrective actions
- Travel to on-site locations as necessary for audits and audit-related activities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- Strong academic performance (minimum 3.2 major GPA and 3.2 overall GPA)
- Strong academic performance or related experience in auditing
- Strong understanding of auditing principles, including Governmental Auditing Standards, across financial, operational, and information systems domains
- Understanding of data governance, privacy, and system-based controls impacting financial and operational processes.
- Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects at the same time
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in government auditing or public sector oversight
- Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or similar standards
- Additional certifications such as CPA or CISA
- Demonstrated trustworthiness and high ethical character
- Ability to prove US citizenship, permanent residency, or US national status
- Ability to pass the required background check
