About the Opportunity
Our client, a rapidly growing operator in the retirement home sector, is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant, Operations to support financial reporting across a portfolio of retirement residences.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, growth-oriented organisation where you will play a critical role in strengthening financial processes, improving reporting timelines, and supporting ongoing expansion.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior leadership, this role is focused on day-to-day financial operations and monthly reporting for multiple retirement homes. The position is ideal for a professional who thrives in a hands-on, operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements for multiple operating entities, including:
- Income statements
- Balance sheets
- Variance analysis (actual vs. budget)
- Support budget development and monitoring
- Perform month-end close activities, including:
- General ledger reconciliation
- Cash, AR, and liability review
- Analyse and report on:
- Revenue streams (e.g., accommodation, ancillary services)
- Operating expenses
- Capital expenditures and maintenance spend
- Ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and client-ready
- Work with accounting systems (currently Point Click Care , with flexibility for alternatives)
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
- 3–7+ years of hands-on accounting experience
- Experience with month-end close and financial reporting
- CPA designation is not required
Industry Experience (Preferred but Not Required)
- Retirement homes or long-term care
- Property management / multi-residential
- Hospitality / hotel operations
- Real estate or asset-based businesses
Technical Skills
- Strong financial reporting and reconciliation skills
- Experience preparing and analysing budgets
- Comfortable working with accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Quick Books, similar)

- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Comfortable working in a growing, fast-paced environment
- Primarily in-office role (4–5 days/week)
- Flexibility for occasional remote work (e.g., month-end deadlines)

- Competitive base salary (anticipated range: $80,000 – $120,000, based on experience)
