Job Description & How to Apply Below

Onbe, a fast-growing Fin Tech, bringing innovation to a rapidly growing global marketplace, stands for “on behalf.” Because that’s exactly how we work: on behalf of our clients, as their comprehensive payments partner. We transform the way payments are imagined — as an opportunity for innovation, a source of insight to customers, and a way to connect with partners around the globe!

The Financial Crimes Unit (“FCU”) is a strategic function within Onbe’s Risk & Compliance department, designed to enhance the Company’s ability to detect, prevent, and mitigate financial crime.

The Financial Crimes Unit Specialist plays a critical supporting role in Onbe’s Risk & Compliance department by assisting in the detection and prevention of financial crimes, including money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud. The Specialist will support the implementation and execution of Onbe’s transaction monitoring program by reviewing alerts, identifying unusual or suspicious activity, and escalating as appropriate. Building on foundational responsibilities, the Specialist executes more complex investigations, identifies emerging patterns, and contributes to refining detection logic and risk strategy.

This position requires a strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic Risk & Compliance function.

Responsibilities:

  • Review transactional alerts and assess for potential suspicious activity in accordance with Onbe’s policies and procedures
  • Conduct detailed investigations using internal systems, third-party tools, and open-source data to determine the legitimacy of flagged transactions
  • Document findings clearly and accurately, ensuring thoroughness and compliance with regulatory expectations
  • Escalate cases involving potential suspicious activity to senior team members or Compliance Officers with relevant context and supporting evidence
  • Support the drafting of Unusual Activity Reports (“UAR”) and/or Suspicious Activity Reports (“SAR”) under the direction of more senior staff
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records and case management logs for audit readiness
  • Stay up to date on emerging trends in financial crime and evolving typologies through team training sessions and independent research
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders as needed to gather information and resolve case-related questions
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to process improvement discussions
  • Provide feedback on alert logic and rules to help improve typology effectiveness
  • Mentor and support team training initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in financial services, compliance, or financial crimes investigations
  • Working knowledge of financial crime typologies including fraud, AML, and misuse
  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
  • CAMS or other relevant certification (or pursuit of such) is a plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency with investigative tools, data analysis, and case management platforms
  • Proficiency in Excel and SQL; ability to analyze and interpret transactional data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for cross-functional and executive-level audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision
  • Effective communicator with a team-oriented mindset and focus on continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical mindset and a detail-oriented approach to investigations and reporting

The base salary range for this position is budgeted for $62,010-$70,000 with eligibility for an annual bonus. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, business needs, and market demand.
