Join our dynamic team at Zurich North America as an AVP & Senior Actuary! In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing the pricing strategies for both the Captives and Direct Markets sectors. We welcome remote talent, but a hybrid presence at our Schaumburg North American Headquarters is preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert pricing support and advice to actuarial business partners, offering insights into risks, performance metrics, and their impacts on business decisions. Mentor and train less experienced team members.
- With minimal supervision, facilitate the pricing of new and renewal business while developing effective premium and rating structures across complex operational environments and diverse lines of business.
- Work closely with Business Unit Leaders to uncover analytical opportunities that can drive profitability and growth, and lead the execution of these deep-dive analyses.
- Deliver actuarial insights to assist Business Unit Leaders in shaping and executing strategic initiatives, including the Country Underwriting Plan and Tiering processes.
- Support market-facing teams and product underwriting in making informed pricing decisions.
- Provide consultation and technical expertise surrounding actuarial models and risk management issues.
- Take a lead role in account pricing, performing risk transfer analysis, and assessing collateral requirements.
- Engage with external clients and customers through the pricing of complex products and tailored accounts.
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, which includes an Associate's Degree, OR
- Bachelor's Degree AND
- 8+ years of actuarial experience with FCAS or an equivalent international credential OR
- 13+ years of actuarial experience with ACAS or an equivalent international certification.
- Experience across multiple actuarial functions such as pricing, reserving, and capital management, demonstrating the expertise of a senior practitioner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in programming and automation (e.g., Python, R, SQL, VBA) to develop, maintain, and improve actuarial pricing models and analytical tools.
