SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES
The Commercial Portfolio Manager Team Lead position manages a team of Commercial Portfolio Managers and supports the loan portfolios of one or more Relationship Managers. Responsibilities include analyzing financial information to evaluate creditworthiness of commercial loan requests, compiling commercial loan packages, ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations and Bank policies, and managing loan servicing of supported portfolios.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Lead, train, coach, and develop Portfolio Managers.
- Review and decide Annual Servicing Reviews and other servicing requests within loan authority.
- Analyze financial information for new, renewal, and ongoing loan requests using Bank policies and procedures.
- Complete industry research supporting existing and new customers.
- Compile full commercial loan packages, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Perform additional credit analysis using specialized tools (e.g., CRE analysis tool).
- Guide the loan request through the Credit Approval Process, ensuring structure meets client and bank objectives.
- Ensure large commercial loan relationships comply with State, Federal, and Bank regulations.
- Manage covenant testing, centralized covenant tracking, annual servicing review, and exception clearing for large loan portfolios.
- Grade loan risk per policy, recommending adjustments as needed.
- Assist Relationship Managers in credit presentations to Credit Administration and committee leaders.
- Maintain required documentation for all loans and treasury approvals.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers, LOAs, and Loan Operations to resolve documentation or compliance deficiencies.
- Accompany Relationship Managers on customer calls.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal partners (Loan Operations, Credit Administrators, Local Line Leadership, Branch Personnel).
- Undertake special projects as directed by Credit Administration Leadership.
- Continuously improve skills through professional training and cross‑training opportunities.
- Work with Relationship Managers, Credit Administrators, and Loan Assistants to minimize past‑due loans.
- Serve as a trusted advisor within risk management, ensuring fair lending practices and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain positive relationships with attorneys, appraisers, developers, and others to enhance the Bank’s reputation.
- Stay current on products and services the Bank offers.
- Adhere to all corporate policies, Federal and State regulations, and laws.
- Follow regulatory requirements related to BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC to support AML program integrity.

- Four‑year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field (Banking school recognized is an asset).
- Minimum eight years of experience in commercial banking, business banking, and/or portfolio management.
- Prior management experience preferred.
- In‑depth knowledge of accounting, lending principles, Federal and State lending regulations, and Bank policies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

The role requires long periods of computer use, including access, interpretation, and processing of information on screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations. It may involve sitting or standing, bending, and reaching.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND LOCATIONTelecommuting roles (hybrid or fully remote) require a secure home office with a reliable private internet connection (preferably cable or fiber, not cellular hotspot). Travel may be required for meetings.
