Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite During Training | Hybrid Schedule Available After Training (3 Days Work From Home / 2 Days Onsite)
Pay Rate: $23.00 – $27.53 per hour
Position OverviewWheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Analyst for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Frisco, TX. This role supports payroll tax operations within a high-volume, multi-state, and multi-entity environment. The Payroll Tax Analyst will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations while partnering with payroll teams, tax agencies, and internal stakeholders to support accurate payroll tax processing and reporting.
The ideal candidate will possess strong payroll tax knowledge, analytical capabilities, and experience working with ADP payroll systems in a fast-paced corporate or healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage daily payroll tax operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Review, balance, and reconcile quarterly and annual payroll tax filings
- Process and reconcile W-2 and W-2c forms
- Prepare payroll tax amendments and manual tax filings as needed
- Research and resolve payroll tax notices through direct communication with tax agencies and coordination with payroll vendors
- Partner with Payroll Analysts to resolve employee payroll tax questions and ensure accurate employee tax setup
- Maintain payroll tax accounts, including:
- New account registrations
- Power of Attorney (POA) documentation
- Third Party Administrator (TPA) updates
- Account maintenance and account closures
- Generate payroll tax reports for leadership and internal stakeholders
- Assign appropriate GL coding for tax refunds and manual tax payments
- Support payroll tax compliance initiatives and process improvement efforts
- Maintain accurate payroll tax records and documentation
- Ensure timely completion of payroll tax deadlines and reporting requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll tax experience
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, compliance practices, and payroll tax filings
- Experience supporting high-volume, multi-state payroll operations
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ADP Enterprise/EV6 and ADP Smart Compliance preferred
- Experience supporting healthcare or large enterprise payroll operations
- Experience with payroll tax account registrations and agency correspondence
- Knowledge of GL coding and payroll accounting processes
- Experience working within multi-entity payroll environments
