Position Overview
The Financial Programs Trainee role with our Agency offers a chance to grow your skills while supporting important audit work across the Commonwealth. Descriptionof Work
This position supports the single audit review process by helping ensure that subrecipients follow federal and state rules. It also offers structured training and guidance to build your auditing skills. As a Financial Programs Trainee, you will perform the following duties:
- Audit Support:
Assist in performing audit steps that align with assignment goals - Report Access:
Download and review subrecipient single audit reports through the Bureau of Accounting and Financial Management portal - Issue Research:
Investigate causes of discrepancies and carry out appropriate follow‑up - Clear Communication:
Communicate findings and recommendations to subrecipients and other parties - Report Preparation:
Prepare monitoring and audit reports for review by senior auditors - Correction Tracking:
Monitor corrective action plans and provide guidance for resolving audit findings
- FREE on‑site parking
- Full‑time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
- In an emergency, disaster situation, or training exercise, this position may require travel, work up to 12‑hour shifts, and work outside of normal hours, including weekends and overnights
- Telework:
You may have the opportunity to work from home part‑time after completing the training period, provided you have a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania - Salary:
New employees with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin at the starting annual salary of $45,907 (before taxes)
- Four years of experience in bookkeeping work that included twelve (12) credits in accounting; or A Bachelor’s Degree including twelve (12) credits in accounting; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes twelve (12) credits in accounting
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree or credits
- You must meet the PA residency requirement
- You must be able to perform essential job functions
- Pennsylvania law (51 Pa. C.S. § 7103) provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs
