Position: Sr Actuary, 3169

Job Summary

A Senior Actuary is a non‑rotational position within the Corporate Actuarial Department. The primary responsibility is to lead the experience study process for the Life Solutions Traditional Life business.

Essential Functions Technical Support and Analysis (60%)
  • Lead the technical completion of traditional mortality experience studies and model validation by writing and running R code utilizing an internal R package.
  • Implement new statistical methodologies to enhance analytic capabilities and strengthen the assumption review/adjustment process.
  • Summarize experience results and work with the AVP, Actuary, to improve model assumptions.
  • Implement assumption updates to the SQL assumption database, perform impact analysis on projected financial results, and validate correct implementation according to model governance guidelines.
  • Comprehensively document technical processes, ensure integrity of results, and develop controls to guarantee auditability; be prepared to explain completed analyses to internal or external stakeholders.
Business Management and Collaboration (30%)
  • Identify areas of weakness in experience study data and communicate needed data for remediation and improvement.
  • Train and assist peers and junior staff to foster growth and development within the department.
  • Actively manage multiple priorities, prioritize effectively, and communicate progress and results to stakeholders.
  • Seek continuous improvement opportunities for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including financial reporting and modeling teams, to ensure alignment with quarterly valuation deadlines.
Ad‑hoc Project / Other (10%)

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or within one year of FSA attainment.
  • Five or more years of experience in an actuarial role.
  • Actuarial modeling experience (Risk Agility preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and strong database knowledge.
  • Programming knowledge: R, SQL, VBA, C++, or similar.
  • Business knowledge of reinsurance basics and traditional life products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex initiatives.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops.
  • Valuation knowledge:
    Solvency II, IFRS
    17, Stat, AG48, and P .
  • Experience establishing controlled procedures.
  • Project planning and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leveraging AI to automate routine actuarial tasks.
Travel

10% domestic travel, including overnight stays.

Work Environment

This full‑time position can be performed from a home office or local office. Candidates must be able to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and communication tools.

Compensation (Inclusive of Base + Bonus)
  • $166,900 – $225,800
