Junior Project Controller role in Houston, TX

* Contract role with hybrid work schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in office, Wednesday and Friday remote/work from home)

We are seeking an energetic Project Controller to support program and project controls within a team focused on safety and operational excellence. This role plays a key part in managing financial performance across capital projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.

What you'll do:

* Track and record project costs through work orders, purchase orders, and invoices

* Monitor budgets, support forecasting, and resolve cost discrepancies

* Provide financial reporting and analysis to support project estimating, contractor selection, and management

* Perform final cost reconciliation and support project closeout activities

* Prepare detailed cost reports and communicate insights to project teams and leadership

* Analyze cost trends and predict future expenditures

* Identify and recommend improvements to cost control and forecasting processes

* Support full lifecycle project controls from initiation through closure

* Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships

What we're looking for:

* Degree in Accounting, Business, Engineering, or Project Management preferred

* 5 years of experience in cost control on capital projects

* Strong proficiency in Excel and other business software tools

* Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to stakeholders at all levels

* Experience analyzing cost and schedule data relationships is a plus

* Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights

* Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to learning and process improvement
