Financial Examiner – Examiner-In-Charge (EIC)
RSM US LLP is seeking an experienced Financial Examiner to serve as Examiner-In-Charge for state insurance departments. The role is based in the United States and offers a work-from-home arrangement for any location in the country.
Position OverviewThe Financial Examiner, EIC will primarily perform financial examinations and regulatory consulting services for state insurance departments. This position offers significant opportunity for advancement and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities- Perform risk-focused financial examinations to determine solvency and compliance with statutes.
- Review examination work papers and evaluate insurance company operations.
- Serve as Examiner-In-Charge on examinations of significant size and complexity.
- Ensure the integrity of the regulatory system.
- Prepare reports, exhibits, and supporting schedules that detail company solvency, condition, and compliance.
- Submit draft reports for review in a timely manner.
- Recommend and document actions to ensure compliance and protect company solvency.
- Provide guidance on insurance laws, rules, and regulations.
- Analyze new, proposed, or revised regulations for impact on companies.
- Analyze financial statements and supervise preparation of clear, concise reports on financial conditions.
- Continuously develop knowledge of accounting, auditing, insurance examination, and related regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA or professional certifications preferred.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience as a financial examiner, serving as EIC on exams of significant size and complexity.
- Insurance industry experience is required.
- Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) is required. CPA or CPA candidate, and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or CIA candidate is a plus.
- Proficiency with PC software for presentations, spreadsheets, and project planning (Team Mate, ACL/Access, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, analytical, and audit skills.

Compensation Range: $94,400 – $178,800 annually, with potential discretionary bonus. Class‑3 benefits and an equity incentive program are available.
