Division of Professional Registration, Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors, 3605 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, Missouri 65109. Position may be domiciled to work from home office. There will be some day and overnight travel.
Base Salary $51,122 (The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the candidate selected is eligible for a years‑of‑service pay differential, it will be added to the total compensation. A pay differential does not raise the base pay.)

The position will be responsible for conducting periodic or special examinations/audits of preneed business records for conformance to regulations. Candidates must have ability to interpret and analyze complex financial, operational and related company information and develop comprehensive reports on the information. Candidates must have the ability to explain and apply statutes and regulations; communicate effectively, make routine decisions; organize workflow, possess a high‑level of attention to detail and thoroughness in all deliverables, establish priorities and deadlines, and maintain effective working relationships.
Candidates will need to present a professional demeanor and appearance as well as offer superior customer service to colleagues, licensees and the public. Frequent day travel and occasional overnight travel required.
- Review and analyze preneed contracts between consumers and preneed sellers in the funeral industry;
- Reconcile and evaluate the registration and handling of preneed contract monies and other funds collected;
- Collect, analyze and evaluate evidence for use in legal actions and preparing detailed reports of findings;
- Testify in court and hearings concerning findings of audits;
- Coordinate communication relating to ongoing examinations/audits with other agencies when joint efforts are needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with specialization in finance, accounting, auditing, risk management, business management or closely related areas, including a preferred minimum of six semester hours in accounting.
- Up to one year of professional experience in accounting, finance, auditing or insurance.
- (Additional qualifying experience may substitute on a year for year basis for deficiencies in the required education)
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
