The HT Group has partnered with a local client in the search for an experienced and highly technical Interim Senior Controller to lead a critical finance transformation initiative for a growing organization. This consultant will take ownership of accounting operations, financial systems, treasury functions, and tax oversight while identifying opportunities to strengthen controls, optimize processes, and improve reporting capabilities.

This role requires a hands-on leader who can quickly assess the current environment, implement best practices, and drive measurable improvements across finance and accounting functions.

Location: 100% Remote (Austin base highly preferred)

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Operations

• Oversee accounting operations and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP
• Evaluate and improve financial reporting processes, controls, and workflows
• Support month-end close, financial statement preparation, and reporting accuracy
• Strengthen internal controls and accounting governance practices

Financial Systems & Process Improvement

• Assess and optimize ERP, accounting, and financial reporting systems
• Lead finance transformation initiatives, including system enhancements and process redesign
• Drive automation and efficiency improvements across accounting and finance operations
• Partner with stakeholders to improve data quality, reporting, and decision support capabilities

Treasury & Tax Oversight

• Review and enhance treasury management and cash flow processes
• Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and liquidity planning
• Support tax compliance processes and coordinate with external advisors as needed

Leadership & Execution

• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on financial operations and infrastructure
• Identify operational risks and implement practical solutions
• Lead initiatives from assessment through execution with minimal oversight
• Deliver results in a fast-paced, remote environment

Qualifications

• CPA preferred
• Deep expertise in technical accounting and U.S. GAAP
• Proven experience leading accounting operations within complex organizations
• Extensive experience with ERP systems, financial reporting platforms, and finance technology environments
• Strong background in treasury management, cash flow oversight, and tax coordination
• Demonstrated success leading finance transformation, process improvement, and system implementation initiatives
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive results quickly
