The Department of Labor & Industry is searching for an independent and highly motivated individual to help a wide-range of employers and businesses comply with PA Unemployment Compensation (UC) law. As an Unemployment Compensation Tax Agent, you will have the opportunity to travel throughout an assigned territory within Pennsylvania to conduct site visits.

As a UC Tax Agent, you will have the opportunity to provide insight on PA UC law requirements to employers and businesses. You will be responsible for examining their financial records and investigating issues to confirm compliance, identify errors, and address fraudulent activity. This position is home-headquartered, therefore you will spend a mix of your time traveling as well as working at home and on-site with employers and businesses throughout your assigned geographic territory.
Work includes but is not limited to:
- Performing advanced auditing work involving a variety of documents and records
- Inspecting and analyzing accounting records for hidden or unreported wages
- Reconstructing payrolls when records are inadequate
- Communicating audit findings with employers
- Explaining assessment processes and appeal rights
- Testifying at hearings
- Completing additional investigations and compliance initiatives
- Performing collection enforcement tasks as part of the normal and escalated collection enforcement activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Frequent travel throughout assigned territory in Pennsylvania is required. Travel expenses will be paid.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. AWS (alternate work schedule) may be available.
- This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

- A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by 18 college credits in finance and accounting, of which at least 6 college credits are in accounting; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in finance and accounting, of which at least 6 college credits are in accounting.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
- This particular position also requires possession of an active Pennsylvania driver's license which is not under suspension.
- You must currently reside in or be willing to relocate to Allegheny, Fayette, Greene, Washington, or Westmoreland counties within 6 months of hire.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- This position will have access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and is subject to the provisions of IRS Publication 1075 (Pub 1075) which requires you to pass an enhanced background check prior to beginning employment. Under Pub 1075, acceptance of a conditional offer of employment will require submission to and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to: a fingerprint-based federal records check;
