My Client is a growing independent wealth management practice seeking an Associate Financial Planner to join our advisory team. This is a hands‑on, client‑facing role that blends financial planning, client servicing, and business development within a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
You will play an active role in client relationships from day one—supporting planning discussions, preparing analysis, and ensuring clients receive a seamless and high‑quality experience. Over time, you will take on increasing responsibility for client relationships and planning complexity as your skills develop.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to build a long‑term career in financial planning and wealth advisory, with a clear pathway toward advanced designations and portfolio management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and participate in financial planning meetings with both prospective and existing clients
- Conduct discovery conversations and initial intake meetings with new clients
- Prepare meeting agendas, financial summaries, and supporting planning documentation
- Draft post‑meeting follow‑ups, recommendations, and action item summaries
- Build, update, and maintain financial plans using planning software as client circumstances evolve
- Compile and organize financial data, account statements, and client documentation ahead of meetings
- Support prospecting efforts through outreach initiatives, including inbound and outbound client engagement activities
- Assist in onboarding new clients and ensuring a smooth and professional first 90 days
- Manage ongoing client servicing requests and ensure timely resolution of administrative tasks
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records in CRM and related systems
- Track tasks, deadlines, and workflows using internal project‑management tools
- Coordinate with investment management and operations teams to support implementation activities
- Liaise with external service providers such as custodians and insurance partners to resolve client‑related issues
- Stay current on financial planning concepts, tax considerations, and industry platform updates
- 2+ years of experience in financial services, ideally with exposure to financial planning or advisory work
- Strong communication skills with a confident and professional client presence (both verbal and written)
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Entrepreneurial mindset with interest in client development, relationship building, and business growth
- Comfortable working with modern tools and technology, including a willingness to adopt AI‑enabled workflows
- Familiarity with financial planning tools, CRM systems, and digital documentation platforms is an asset
- Working knowledge of Canadian account structures (RRSP, TFSA, RRIF, RESP, FHSA, non‑registered, etc.)
- Enrollment in or interest toward financial planning/designation pathways is strongly preferred
- (e.g., CSC, IFIC, CFP, QAFP, or CIM track)
- Strong professional presence with the ability to build trust quickly with clients
- Self‑starter who thrives in a remote‑first environment with structured autonomy
- Initial onboarding and training conducted in‑person in Toronto
- Transition to fully remote work following training completion
- Occasional in‑person meetings for team alignment, planning, and development sessions
