this Role

Teachers’ Venture Growth (TVG) is a dynamic arm of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, dedicated to venture and growth capital investments in high-growth technology companies. As an Investment Associate, you will be stationed at the San Francisco office, where you’ll collaborate closely with a global team to drive initiatives across all stages of the investment lifecycle. This role provides the opportunity to thrive hands‑on from investment origination through to deal execution and ongoing portfolio management.

Your enthusiasm for disruptive technology and the startup atmosphere will be integral as you build and evaluate investment theses and financial models, formulating key insights for strategic growth and performance monitoring. In this role, you’ll leverage your strong analytical skills and industry insights to engage in meaningful portfolio developments and strategic reporting. You’ll actively participate in industry events, representing TVG in conferences and meetings while also building a network with founders and investors to bolster deal prospects.

Responsibilities
  • Play a critical role across all stages of the investment process: origination, due diligence, deal execution, and portfolio monitoring
  • Develop investment theses and financial models including projections, sensitivity analysis, and valuations
  • Drive sector research to identify investment targets and perform competitive analysis
  • Prepare investment memos and present recommendations to internal committees
  • Build and maintain relationships with founders, investors, and service providers to support deal sourcing
  • Evaluate and monitor the ongoing portfolio company performance, and support ongoing strategic initiatives and reporting requirements
  • Represent TVG at industry conferences and annual meetings
Requirements
  • 2+ years of investment or deal experience (investment banking, private equity, VC, hedge fund, management consulting)
  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience
  • Strong financial modelling and quantitative analysis skills, with advanced proficiency in Excel and Power Point
  • Strong work ethic, team mindset, communication & presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a high-performance team environment
  • Genuine passion for disruptive technology and the startup ecosystem
  • Willingness to actively experiment with and adopt AI workflow tools as the technology and our practices evolve
