The Financial Manager is responsible for the financial operations of Centennial United Methodist Church (CUMC). The Manager works cooperatively with the Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor, the CUMC Treasurer, financial volunteers, CUMC staff the Finance Committee, and the Finance Co‑Leads.
Position reports to:CUMC Executive Pastor
Key Functions and Roles:Accounting and Bookkeeping Responsibilities:
- Chief administrator of CUMC financial operations.
- Completes daily, month‑end and year‑end accounting and bookkeeping tasks.
- Pays all invoices and operation costs incurred by CUMC.
- Initiates payment requests for Annual Conference designated payments in a timely manner.
- Works closely with the treasurer, who signs checks.
- Manages all CUMC bank accounts, brokerage accounts, credit cards, electronic banking activities, etc.
Collaboration:
- Attends all Finance Committee meetings and prepares reports in advance of meetings.
- Collaborates with Finance Committee on budget management.
- Participates on financial development initiatives, such as stewardship and capitol campaigns.
- Prepares the CUMC budget in collaboration with the CUMC pastors, Finance Committee and Leadership Board.
- Administers the CUMC operating budget and manages the general ledger.
- Manages and tracks donations, prepares quarterly donation statements and manages designated fund receipts.
- Prepares annual compliance reports associated with the budget.
- Consults with committees and teams about budget and expenditures as needed.
- Completes tasks for annual church audit with the treasurer and workers compensation audit.
- Compiles annual report for the MN Conference.
- Compiles financial data for annual church insurance renewals.
- Administers all aspects of the CUMC staff payroll operation, including managing benefits, payment of applicable with holdings, IRS and MN Department of Revenue compliance reports, etc.
- Completes new employee on‑boarding enrollment in payroll and benefits programs.
- Maintains third‑party accounting software, currently ACS‑REALM, to provide integrations between the accounting system and the donor/pledge tracking system.
- Builds accounting and stewardship reports using the accounting software report writer.
- Trains and supports staff and financial volunteers in the use of the accounting software.
- The Financial Manager position is an exempt, part‑time position (20‑25 hours per week).
- Flexible schedule with some remote work possible.
- Provides leadership in promoting and supporting the mission of CUMC.

- Demonstrates initiative, creativity, receptiveness to feedback and positive work habits.
- Works well with others and collaborates effectively with CUMC Finance Committee, Finance Co‑Leads, Treasurer, financial volunteers, pastors, staff, and congregation.
Competencies:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least three years working as a financial manager, bookkeeper, accountant or a related role (preferred).
- Experience processing payroll.
- Experience developing budgets and creating reports.
- Demonstrated competency and experience completing basic double entry accounting system.
- Demonstrated competency and experience completing bookkeeping activities.
- Competency working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and standard accounting software.
- Pass background check.
$36,000 to $40,000 depending on experience and paid time off.
