Position: Commercial Loan Officer 3

Location and Remote Work

This is a remote position based in or near Thurston or Pierce County, Washington with regular travel required for on‑site events.

Pay Range

Target annual pay: $117,216 - $133,200. Full range: $106,560 - $159,840.

Job Overview

This position is responsible for developing, growing, and managing a portfolio of quality member business loan relationships in support of the credit union’s strategic goals within the Washington and Oregon market areas.

What You’ll Do
  • Identify and develop new member business loan opportunities through networking and community involvement within the credit union’s footprint.
  • Build profitable and positive networks in the business community, establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with existing and prospective members and Centers of Influence (COIs).
  • Build a quality member business loan portfolio by negotiating terms and conditions within the credit union’s framework, strictly adhering to commercial lending policies, procedures, and federal and state regulations.
  • Monitor competitor rates, programs, terms, and conditions to strategically present the credit union’s programs.
  • Conduct interviews and consultations with prospective business loan members, manage the loan process, collect and review applications, collaborate with Credit Analysts, review documentation, perform periodic annual term loan and risk reviews, and monitor delinquencies.
  • Meet high‑level monthly loan production and profitability goals, as well as sales activities and outbound calling goals.
  • Maintain strong credit quality of the member business lending portfolio through ongoing portfolio management.
  • Act as a subject‑matter expert on product knowledge and promote a broad range of the credit union’s products and services.
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings and work‑related events.
  • Maintain the use of all assigned equipment (e.g., cell phones, computers) in an acceptable manner.
  • Ensure secure and well‑maintained work areas in compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Serve as a resource and develop positive relationships with internal partners and branch personnel.
  • Comply with state and federal regulations and complete required documentation and disclosures.
  • Mentor commercial loan officers and related staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional Director of Commercial Lending.
Qualifications
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in a high‑volume, production‑oriented commercial lending role or equivalent position.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Strong networking, relationship management, consultative selling, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience with investor commercial real estate, commercial & industrial lending, and business deposit products.
  • Knowledge of commercial credit analysis and the evaluation of borrower financial statements.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work extended hours as required.
  • Experience with loan and documentation systems (e.g., Laser Pro, LOS, spreading software) preferred.
  • Direct experience in commercial lending and/or business development in the core market area preferred.
Bonus Points If You Have
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
  • Risk Management Association (RMA) Lending Certifications.

  • High‑level consultative selling, negotiation, and presentation skills with a history of successful outside sales experience.
  • Ability to make recommendations on loan pricing, terms, risk grades, collateral evaluation, and repayment sources.
  • Exceptional written communication skills for preparing loan approval requests.
