SEC Reporting Consultant

Overview

The SEC Reporting Consultant serves as an accounting expert, applying accounting acumen to customers on a project basis. The role involves customer project management, XBRL data modeling, mapping, tagging, and review of XBRL projects to ensure compliance with quality and satisfaction standards.

• Model XBRL mapping, selecting the appropriate line item concepts, axis, and members.
• Interpret guidance from the applicable taxonomy to determine accuracy of tag choice and ensure extensions follow the relative intent of the taxonomy.
• Tag values in financial statements, notes, schedules, and other required information.
• Determine whether values are at a point in time or over a period and whether monetary values represent debits or credits.
• Master intricacies of financial reporting, including stock-based compensation, fair value assessment, derivatives, pensions, income taxes, inventory valuation, investments, property, plant and equipment, comprehensive income, leases, revenue recognition, and the latest accounting standards.
• Maintain knowledge of taxonomies, SEC regulations, emerging XBRL requirements, and accounting standards.
• Map financial statements, notes, and schedules to the appropriate XBRL taxonomy (GAAP, IFRS).
• Review accounting policies, statements, and notes to identify related accounting standard concepts.
• Understand industry accounting disclosures specific to company customers.
• Stay current with industry trends, accounting standard updates, and regulatory changes.
• Collaborate with Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and Learning & Development teams to advance company training and standardize changes.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 2+ years of experience, preferably in a CPA firm or financial reporting environment.
• Solid knowledge of SEC and SEDAR reporting requirements.
• Strong U.S. GAAP acumen and understanding of financial reporting.
• Ability to interpret taxonomy structure.
• Self‑motivated, capable of initiation, execution, and follow‑through.
• Ability to manage multiple, overlapping customer requirements and plan filing dates.

• CPA or CIA certification.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget, and to a high-quality standard.
• Experience working cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with SEC and SEDAR reporting requirements.
• Ability to handle contingencies and prioritize requirements.
• Willingness to travel (less than 10% travel expected).

• Minimal travel for internal meetings.
• Reliable internet access required for remote work.
• No on-site Workiva office requirement.

• Salary range in the US: $68,000.00 - $.
• Discretionary bonus typically paid annually.
• Restricted Stock Units granted at hire.
