Group Underwriter

Overview

The Disability Financial Underwriter will work with Short Term and Long Term Disability opportunities to prepare offers for prospective and renewal clients in the small and mid-market group segments. Provide appropriate rationale and support to Sales, clients and other areas within the organization surrounding risk selection, financial analysis, rate computations and financial activity. Provide expense estimates and accurate analysis of financial exhibits.

Understand department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Make decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and require minimal direction and receive guidance where needed. Follow established guidelines/procedures.

• Prepare offers for prospective and renewal clients in the small and mid-market group segments.

• Follow established guidelines and procedures.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• 5 or more years of Short Term and Long Term Disability underwriting and risk analysis experience
• Comprehensive understanding of risk pool management
• Knowledge of the competitor landscape
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
• Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
• Demonstrate high performance and accountability working in a remote work environment

• Experience analyzing disability and health related data
• Industry related course work is preferred but not required

• Experience with Dental, Vision and/or Life plans is beneficial
