HARDI (Heating, Air-conditioning, and Refrigeration Distributors International) is the unified voice of wholesale distribution within the HVACR industry. As a non-profit association, HARDI supports its members through government affairs and advocacy, market intelligence and benchmarking, training programs, and high-impact industry events. The organization represents more than 570 distributor members with over 5,000 branch locations, as well as nearly 600 suppliers, manufacturer representatives, and service vendors.
HARDI members serve residential and commercial contractors, as well as commercial, industrial, and institutional maintenance teams. The association focuses on strengthening the HVACR distribution channel and advancing the success of its member organizations.
This is a full-time Senior Director of Finance role based in the Columbus, Ohio, Metropolitan Area, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. The Senior Director of Finance will lead the organization’s financial strategy, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long‑range financial planning. This role manages the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial statements and reports for leadership, the board, and key stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with applicable standards.
The individual will develop and refine financial policies, internal controls, and procedures to support operational efficiency and risk management. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include monitoring financial performance, guiding annual and multi‑year budgeting processes, partnering with department leaders on financial decisions, managing relationships with external auditors and financial institutions, and providing data‑driven recommendations to support strategic initiatives. The Senior Director of Finance will also mentor and develop finance team members and contribute to continuous improvement across financial operations.
- Strong foundation in Finance and Financial Planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Proficiency in preparing and interpreting Financial Statements and Financial Reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Advanced Analytical Skills to assess financial performance, identify trends, and support data‑driven strategic decisions.
- Experience establishing and maintaining robust internal controls, compliance processes, and risk management practices.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing finance teams and collaborating with executive and board‑level stakeholders.
- Proficiency with modern financial systems, reporting tools, and spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel or similar).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPA, CMA, or similar) is preferred.
- Experience in a non‑profit, association, or membership‑based organization, and familiarity with HVACR or related industries, is a plus.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non‑financial audiences.
