Position Overview
Reporting to the Supervisor, Operational Reporting and working out of the Calgary Corporate Office on a hybrid schedule, with Tuesday – Thursday in office and Monday / Friday with the option to work from home, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for financial analysis for the operational functions and month end close. As well as providing support to departments and lead forecasting and the annual budget / 5 year plan for site departments allocated to the role.
Occasional travel to the Ekati mine site may be required.
Job Duties /Responsibilities
Prepare for monthly departmental cost review meetings, including detailed cost variance analysis
Maintain costing in SAP for the month end close, including preparing journal entries for cost allocations, accruals, prepaid entries, down payments, etc.
Prepare accounting entries or memos for complex accounting issues if required
Support departments in preparing budgets and forecasts including presentations and training on financial topics
Work with assigned area managers to record and monitor their cost and spending
Support other team members as needed
Prepare period-end internal controls and reconciliations over financial reporting
ADHOC projects as required
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree with focus on accounting/business/finance
Professional designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) with 3+ years of relevant experience
Experience in preparing budgets, forecasts and analyses
Experience with SAP is preferred
Display critical thinking and the ability to analyze complex situations and demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum guidance
Motivated, proactive and timeline driven team player
Ability to handle multiple deadlines and a high-pressure environment

The Company provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.
