Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Mutual Capital Analytics (MCA), our mission is to help all mutual insurance companies transform their businesses using data and analytics. We help our clients build, implement, and optimize analytics throughout their company to drive improvements and thrive in their markets.

Overview

As a member of the leadership team at MCA, this role will be crucial to shaping the company’s predictive modeling strategy as well as expanding our Actuarial practice. Reporting directly to MCA’s Chief Actuary, you will be leading client engagements, getting involved in everything from data intake and manipulation to making actuarial selections and recommendations and presenting those to clients.

Responsibilities
  • Ownership, development, and advancement of MCA’s Advanced Analytics strategy.
  • Partner directly with all levels of our client companies to understand their business needs, influence their strategies, and collaborate on solutions.
  • Lead client engagements through the utilization of predictive modeling, including class plan development, multivariate loss trend analyses, and segmentation studies.
  • In addition to predictive modeling projects, there will be opportunities to complete pricing studies, reserve reviews, trend analyses, and a variety of other ad hoc client work.
  • Build out internal actuarial capabilities and perform ongoing reviews and analyses to assess our clients’ product performance, extract new product insights, and recommend options based on projected benefits.
  • Work across MCA’s Actuarial and Product Management functions to create the best solutions for our clients.
Education and Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in actuarial or analytical P&C insurance roles.
  • FCAS or ACAS required.
  • In-depth knowledge of actuarial models and techniques, with a focus on predictive modeling in the personal and commercial lines markets.
  • Strong technical background – familiarity working with tools such as SQL, R, Power BI, Tableau, or Python.
  • Highly analytical – excel at leveraging customer research and analytics to drive decisions.
  • Partnering and relationship-building skills, both internally and externally, across all levels of an organization.
  • Strong communicator – able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Prior consulting experience is a plus.
Job Requirements and Work Environment
  • Local to CT office: must be able to work effectively in a hybrid office environment, balancing in-office and remote workdays. Also, MCA welcomes applications from candidates seeking a fully remote working arrangement.
  • Ability to travel when necessary (approximately 5-10%).
  • For candidates pursuing their FCAS, MCA will provide exam support in the form of study time and fees for exams, materials, and seminars, as well as incentives for passing exams.
