About the Opportunity
A well-established manufacturer in the Midwest is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to lead cost accounting, inventory, WIP, and month-end close activities. This organization is in growth mode, investing heavily in modernization and process optimization. They are looking for someone who can bring structure, efficiency, and fresh ideas to a hands-on cost accounting function.

This role is remote, with onsite presence required only during month-end close and key operational meetings.

What You'll Do

• Lead cost accounting processes including inventory valuation, WIP tracking, product costing, and job costing
• Manage month-end close activities, with heavy involvement on Days 1-2
• Review and reconcile raw materials, finished goods, and overhead allocations
• Analyze variances and provide clear, actionable insights to leadership
• Partner closely with operations and finance to ensure accurate and timely financial data
• Maintain and improve ERP data (Microsoft Navision and AS400 strongly preferred)
• Document processes and support transition of work as needed
• Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, or improve reporting and workflows

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of cost accounting experience (senior cost accountant level or above)
• Background in manufacturing or distribution required
• Experience with Microsoft Navision and/or AS400 is a significant plus
• Strong month-end close expertise with ability to manage a high volume of tasks
• Someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and has an automation mindset
• Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
