As the Assistant Vice President, Actuarial Modeling, you will lead and develop an actuarial modeling and valuation team responsible for actuarial model governance, valuation, and financial reporting. You will partner closely with Finance, Investments, Product, Risk Management, and senior leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant actuarial results that support strategic decision‑making and long‑term business success. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who is passionate about actuarial excellence, mentoring others, and driving continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of actuarial professionals, supporting engagement, performance management, and succession planning
- Oversee actuarial modeling and valuation systems (including ALFA) supporting statutory valuation, P (VM-20/21/22), ALM analysis, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including cash flow testing, statutory reserves, modeled RBC, and regulatory filings
- Provide clear, reliable actuarial insights that inform business strategy, risk management, profitability, and earnings volatility
- Lead valuation and financial reporting for Statutory and Tax financials, including governance, controls, and documentation
- Partner with Product, Finance, Investments, and Risk teams on ALM metrics, reinsurance structures, and solvency risk assessment (ORSA)
- Monitor regulatory developments and recommend enhancements to actuarial and financial reporting processes
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment aligned with Equi Trust’s core values
- Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Finance, Statistics, Accounting, Computer Science, Quantitative Mathematics, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in actuarial valuation, modeling, or financial reporting
- 3+ years of people management or leadership experience
- Experience with in insurance or financial services (annuities and life insurance strongly preferred)
- FSA or ASA designation required
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to influence across teams and levels
- Advanced analytical, quantitative, and actuarial modeling expertise
- Deep understanding of statutory valuation and P frameworks (AG 33, VM-20/21/22)
- Experience with ALM analysis, asset projections, and fixed-income investment structures
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to integrity, inclusivity, and continuous learning
- MG-ALFA experience
- Primarily sedentary work with regular use of a computer
- Ability to communicate effectively and participate in meetings
- Occasional lifting of light materials (up to 20 lbs.)
