DIRECTOR OF INVESTMENTS, Investment Office
Full-Time/Regular position located in Boston, MA, USA. Salary range $ - $ annually based on experience, with bonus opportunity.
Boston University’s Investment Office, founded in 2007, manages a diversified global portfolio of approximately $4 billion in assets. This senior role reports to the Chief Investment Officer and works closely with the Privates-oriented Investment Director.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee investment strategy and portfolio construction to maximize risk-adjusted returns aligned with the university’s financial objectives.
- Conduct due diligence, selection, and monitoring of investment managers, with a focus on private capital.
- Develop and present investment materials to the investment committee and other university stakeholders, responding to audience questions.
- Contribute to generalist investment activities and collaborate with team members on investment decisions.
- Support a smooth transfer of responsibilities and relationships over the next 12-18 months with the current Privates investment director.
- Travel globally as required and maintain remote work arrangement two days a week after initial integration.
- 10+ years of relevant investment experience.
- Demonstrated investment judgment and curiosity.
- Working knowledge of portfolio construction and management.
- Expertise in private capital with a network of managers and fellow investors.
- Track record in investment manager evaluation (due diligence, selection, monitoring).
- Broad approach to evaluating risks and informing investment decisions.
- Experience developing and presenting investment materials to multiple constituents and responding to questions.
- Membership on a team requiring collaborative work products.
- MBA and/or CFA preferred.
- Desire to enhance investment office’s reputation as a sophisticated global investor.
- Committed to data-informed decision-making processes.
- Informed investment view and philosophy; willingness to think outside the box.
- Ability to synthesize information for concise presentations.
- Team player able to work independently.
- Ability to maintain respectful relationships with investment managers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
