Job Summary

The Valuations Manager oversees complex valuation reviews and escalations across the RTL portfolio, ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely valuation decisions. The role partners closely with Credit, Asset Management, Trading, and Investment teams to support asset pricing, deal execution, portfolio performance, and risk management, while driving process improvements and scalable valuation practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance and mentorship to Valuation Analysts to enhance skill sets and ensure high‑quality work.
  • Lead team meetings and training sessions to promote best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Director to implement department initiatives, monitor key performance indicators, and execute strategic goals.
  • Manage daily workflow and performance of the Valuation Analyst team, including workload balancing, quality control, and timely issue resolution.
  • Conduct performance reviews, give constructive feedback, and support career development plans for team members.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training of new analysts.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses of third‑party appraisal reports to ensure compliance with industry standards and accurate property values.
  • Perform and oversee desktop valuations using proprietary systems, analyzing market data, property tax records, and other relevant data for property types such as single‑family residences, condominiums, and multi‑family units.
  • Reconcile valuation results, address discrepancies, and liaise with external appraisers for clarification.
  • Escalate high‑risk or complex valuation scenarios for further review or adjustment.
  • Act as liaison between the Valuations team and cross‑functional partners, including Credit, Underwriting, Risk, and Servicing.
  • Deliver timely updates, summaries, and valuation insights to support loan decisions and strategic planning.
  • Support compliance and audit requests with documentation and subject‑matter expertise.
  • Contribute to ad‑hoc projects, policy updates, and operational initiatives, remaining adaptable to evolving business needs.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong real estate valuation expertise and sound judgment
  • College degree preferred or relevant appraisal/valuation experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and proprietary valuation systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
  • Strong communication skills with professionalism and integrity across all levels
  • Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, economics, or a related field preferred
  • 3‑5 years of experience in appraisal or a related field, with significant desk‑based analysis and team leadership
Work Environment

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the Anchor Loans headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. Remote work is allowed for two days per week.

Compensation

Base salary: $120,000–$130,000 per year plus an annual discretionary bonus based on individual and company performance.
