Join the expanding CRE team at Flagstar! The Senior Relationship Manager‑Commercial Real Estate oversees commercial real estate loan relationships of all levels of complexity, generating new business and relationships to produce revenue from companies, sponsors, developers, and businesses. The role involves origination, negotiation, structuring, pricing, underwriting, and closing of loans, while managing a complex commercial loan portfolio to ensure high quality and minimal risk.
Job Responsibilities- New Business Origination
:
Develop and maintain relationships to generate direct deal flow; coordinate team approach to approve and close new deals to grow assets and revenues while optimizing profitability. - Relationship Management
:
Work with assigned portfolio managers, engage sponsors and borrowers on idea generation and relevant opportunities to expand relationships. - Credit Quality
:
Ensure proactive monitoring of the credit quality of the portfolio through timely financial statement gathering, monitoring client compliance, and analyzing financial information to recommend corrective actions. - Onboarding
:
Collaborate with Credit team and outside counsel to prepare credit approval documents and manage onboarding process to ensure transactions are booked appropriately. - Maintaining Knowledge
:
Stay abreast of industry trends and market conditions that could impact the portfolio. - Additional Accountabilities
:
Perform special projects, maintain compliance with regulatory policies, and complete required compliance trainings.
- Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience as a Commercial Lending Relationship Manager or in commercial lending sales at a financial institution regulated by the OCC.
- Knowledge of commercial credit may substitute for production experience.
- Credit training preferred.
- Expert knowledge of commercial lending credit, underwriting, and loan structuring.
- Strong analytical skills for financial and cash‑flow analysis.
- Comprehensive understanding of institutional investor real estate asset classes.
- Ability to analyze, structure, and recommend bridge loans, note‑on‑note, warehouse lines of credit, and subscription lines of credit.
- Ability to market the bank and achieve strategic growth with institutional developers.
- Highly developed negotiation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience using a calling strategy to actively call prospects/clients.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Some travel may be required.
The job requires a moderate degree of physical exertion and stamina such as standing, sitting, walking, driving, or infrequent lifting.
