Director of Finance What You’ll Be Doing
- Financial Leadership & Governance:
Safeguard hotel assets and financial resources to maximize profitability; ensure full compliance with local regulations, corporate policies, and Management Agreement requirements; provide timely, accurate financial reporting and strategic counsel to senior management; maintain strong internal controls and adherence to financial policies and procedures. - Financial Reporting & Controls:
Oversee preparation of monthly financial reports in line with corporate standards and accounting principles; ensure accuracy and integrity of all financial data, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations; monitor Accounts Receivable and collections; ensure proper documentation, approvals, and compliance for all contracts, leases, and agreements. - Cash & Treasury Management:
Oversee hotel cash flow and daily cash position to optimize use of funds; establish appropriate banking structures, controls (e.g., authorized signatories, positive pay), and financial safeguards; monitor long‑term debt, loan covenants, and related interest accruals where applicable. - Commercial & Operational Performance:
Monitor and control all revenues, costs, and expenses to drive profitability; lead budgeting and forecasting processes; drive cost discipline, including labor management, while maintaining service standards; identify and support new business opportunities that enhance hotel performance. - Compliance &
Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with financial, legal, and audit requirements; maintain strong relationships with ownership, auditors, and external partners; implement audit recommendations and ensure timely follow‑up actions. - Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team; build capability for current and future needs; maintain strong working relationships across departments and with the Home Office; conduct effective department meetings and ensure follow‑through on key actions. - Process Improvement & Communication:
Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and operational efficiency; communicate effectively with stakeholders, including the Planning Committee and Department Heads; advocate Finance programs and policies across the hotel.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a similar Finance leadership role within Four Seasons or a comparable organization.
- Proven experience in a hotel or resort environment, with strong operational understanding.
- Demonstrated leadership capability in a hotel or resort setting, with the ability to guide and influence teams.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and transparency in all financial and business practices.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and influence decision‑making.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial insights clearly and effectively.
- Strong business acumen with strategic and analytical thinking capabilities.
- Solid technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), with hands‑on understanding across Accounting, Purchasing, and Food & Beverage control functions.
- Working knowledge of hotel systems and operations, with the ability to translate financial data into operational insights.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and financial systems.
- Ability to foster a continuous learning environment, supporting team development and growth.
- Applies sound judgement and ethical decision‑making in complex situations.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
