Benesch is proud to announce the opening for a Payroll Specialist in our Cleveland office. This position is hybrid with work-from-home flexibility.

Position Summary

Do you have experience in accounting or finance? Are you interested in payroll? This role is perfect for an entry-level person who can learn and help execute all matters related to payroll.

Position Responsibilities
  • Ensure new hires are correctly set up.
  • Ensure termination pay and final payments are accurate.
  • Ensure taxes are correctly administered.
  • Review time cards for accuracy.
  • Assist in preparing payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions including salaries, overtime, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.
  • Track leave of absences and payments accurately.
  • Prepare analyses related to payroll transactions, employee demographics and insurance data.
  • Assist in processing pension contribution changes.
  • Help with payments to benefit companies and reconcile billing.
  • Serve as a resource and interact with employees to answer payroll-related questions.
  • Assist with annual audits.
  • Prepare ad hoc payroll reports and analysis as needed.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge base about payroll regulations and reporting requirements, including multi-state payrolls.
  • Identify areas of continuous improvement and proactively work with Payroll/HR/Finance team members to make changes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of firm client information, internal and personnel affairs.
  • Build relationships and foster a collaborative approach to working with internal clients across practice groups and management.
  • Willingly work a flexible schedule and the hours needed to accomplish firm expectations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Key Competencies

    Must have Excel experience, prioritize detail and accuracy, and have a customer-first mentality. Versatility is required.

    Qualifications

    The Payroll Specialist must have strong analytical skills and working knowledge in Excel. Must be an organized self-starter who is detail-oriented and has a First in Service attitude.

    A bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience is preferred. A minimum of one (1) year experience in accounting, payroll or similar in an office environment. ADP Workforce experience is considered a plus.

    The salary range for this position is $56K to $70K.
