Trust Services Analyst

Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union and aviation safety organization in the world, is seeking an experienced Trust Services Analyst for its office in Tysons, VA. Under the guidance of senior staff and management and as an integral part of the Member Insurance Team, the analyst will assist the boards of ALPA‑sponsored insurance entities by providing analysis, communications strategies, and operational and customer‑service assistance for the following funds:

  • ALPA Pilot Welfare Benefit Plan (PWBP)
  • Voluntary Employees’ Beneficiary Association (VEBA)
  • ALPA Canada Insurance Trust (ACIT)
  • Air Canada Pilots Benefits Trust (ACPBT)
Responsibilities

Serving as the primary operational contact between members, trustees, insurers, and ALPA staff, the analyst will develop options and analyses as requested by the boards and present findings. They will also ensure accurate processing of member inquiries, Extended Mutual Aid intake and documentation, claim verification, monthly payment workflows, and secure recordkeeping. They safeguard trust assets and protect member benefits while maintaining strict confidentiality and adherence to departmental procedures.

Travel: 5–10%.

Physical Demands

Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet. Regularly required to maintain a stationary position, move about the office, determine what others have said or written, and converse with others and exchange accurate information. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel locally and nationally, with occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.

Occasional required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten pounds. While on travel, may be required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage weighing as much as fifty pounds.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area (Insurance, Business, Accounting, Finance) from an accredited college or university required; or equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Three (3) years of analysis and/or customer‑service experience; five (5) or more preferred.
  • Voluntary benefits insurance and trust experience is a definite plus.
  • Solid organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated performance as a self‑starter with the ability to work independently, without close supervision, and provide solutions to various issues as they arise.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, for effective interaction with all levels of contacts, internal and external.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow‑through skills.
  • Software:
    Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required; experience with Aptify, SharePoint, and Tableau preferred.

The MBCBP has a 3‑year cliff vesting period.
