The salary listed above includes the 2% pay increase that goes into effect on July 1, 2026.

Please Note: Applicants must reside or be willing to relocate to the Everett area. The duty station for this position will be the employee's personal residence. The position includes a combination of home office and field work. Travel will be required to audit sites with flexibility in scheduling. Some overnight travel is required.

Your Opportunity at a Glance

The WSLCB Finance Division is announcing a Revenue Auditor 3 (RA3) position in the Everett region. This role reports directly to the Audit Supervisor and will lead complex financial and compliance audits for large regulated businesses. As an RA3, you will independently plan and conduct in‑depth audits, evaluate tax and fee reporting practices, and provide education to strengthen licensee compliance.

Auditors in this role develop audit plans, guide peers, train new auditors, and are directly responsible for audit outcomes. Your work directly influences tax policy application, strengthens internal controls, and supports the WSLCB mission of fair, accountable oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete evaluation of fiscal activities, financial records, procedures, and policies to determine compliance and correct tax reporting.
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of accounting procedures, internal controls, and audit trails.
  • Identify signs of fraud and consult with higher‑level auditors or supervisors.
  • Conduct audits of wineries, breweries, distributors, cannabis and spirits retailers to determine tax and fee liability and provide education on reporting.
  • Apply RCW and WAC related to Cannabis, Spirits, and Beer & Wine audits and communicate findings to licensees.
  • Provide audit findings and corrective action recommendations to licensees, attorneys, agency management, and other government agencies.
  • Perform investigative audits of distillers, manufacturers, importers, wholesalers, and retailers for compliance with liquor laws.
  • Train peer auditors and work as a team member on large audits.
  • Collect data from systems of records used for Cannabis, Spirits, and Beer & Wine.
  • Ensure agency assets are safeguarded.
  • Assist managers in evaluating lower‑level or peer auditors’ performance.
  • Act as the lead auditor for team audits, providing guidance and leadership.
  • Explain audit methodologies in administrative hearings when required.
  • Travel to auditee locations and work on site; expect varied travel schedules.

Required Qualifications

Seven years of relevant education, professional experience, or a combination in auditing, accounting, tax compliance, or tax administration. Ability to possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with no restrictions.

Education to Experience Equivalency
  • Associate's degree = 2 years
  • Bachelor's degree = 4 years
  • Master’s degree = 5 years
