Summary
As a Director, Actuarial Services at United Health Group, you will lead cross‑functional teams, influence senior leadership and participate in business strategy development. You will pursue large, complex projects to achieve key business objectives.
Remote WorkYou’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. If you are hired for the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. Preference will be given to those who can work during Eastern or Central time zone business hours.
All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to United Health Group’s Telecommuter Policy.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide actuarial direction and strategy to balance growth and profitability goals
- Provide medical and dental actuarial support to Public Sector Premier Accounts
- Lead actuarial analyses supporting benefit strategy, trend projections and network optimization for UMR accounts
- Build relationships with external consulting partners and client actuarial teams to benefit mutual clients
- Lead internal and external presentations, translating highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
- 8+ years of actuarial experience, or similar consulting, finance or analytical work experience
- Experience with actuarial concepts
- Experience working directly with medical and dental benefits
- Advanced or higher level of proficiency with Excel
- Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Power Point
- ASA or FSA designation, or equivalent work experience
- Experience in health‑care industry, specifically with health benefits consulting or strategy for large group ASO accounts
- Experience with public sector and/or large group accounts
- Familiarity with Power BI, Access, VBA, and/or SQL
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Excellent quantitative, problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently
- Ability to prioritize tasks among competing deadlines
Solid project management and organizational skills - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on communicating complex information to non‑technical audiences
Salary range for this role is $134,600 to $230,800 annually, based on full‑time employment. Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, work experience and certifications. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401(k) contribution. Benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
