Role DescriptionThe Sr. Tax Preparer is a contract, hybrid role based in Norco, LA, with the flexibility to complete some work from home. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Day-to-day tasks include gathering and analyzing client financial information, identifying eligible deductions and credits, and advising clients on tax planning opportunities.
The Sr. Tax Preparer will research complex tax issues, stay current on changes in tax law, and communicate clearly with clients to explain filings and recommendations. The role may also collaborate with team members on related services such as basic accounting support, financial documentation, and client education.
- Strong Tax Preparation and Tax experience, including preparation and review of individual and business returns.
- Knowledge of Tax Law and the ability to research and interpret current regulations and guidance.
- Proficiency in Finance and Financial Statements to analyze client information and support accurate filings.
- Experience with tax preparation software and common office tools (e.g., Excel, document management systems).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines.
- Clear, professional communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts in simple terms.
- Prior experience in a senior or lead tax preparer role, public accounting, or tax-focused firm is preferred.
- Relevant certification or credential (e.g., Enrolled Agent, CPA, or equivalent experience) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, maintaining confidentiality and data security both on-site and at home.
