Qualifications
- 10+ years of accounting experience, including 5+ years in an architecture, engineering, planning, consulting or government contracting environment
- 4+ years managing staff
- Experience supporting finance and contracts teams in accounting for projects in accordance with FAR and DCAA guidelines
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- 1+ years experience in a Controller role
- Previous work in a company of 300+ employees, $40m+ gross revenue, and handling 500+ monthly invoices in the most recent Controller position
- Recent position in the A+E (AEP) field
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (CPA preferred)
- Proficiency in Deltek Vision or VantagePoint preferred

- Report directly to the CFO and serve as the process owner for all accounting functions, ensuring the company’s financial health and growth readiness
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close and consolidation processes
- Manage payroll, billing, and accounts payable teams, and collaborate with the Contracts department to maintain compliance with contractual, statutory tax, and FAR requirements
- Create new processes and optimize existing accounting procedures through expertise and experience
- Work within a supportive environment that emphasizes collaboration over siloed work
- You enjoy leading a team that values your strengths and encourages growth outside your comfort zone
- You possess strong communication skills, whether written, verbal, or visual
- You can build relationships, have an analytical aptitude, are detail‑oriented, and possess strong problem‑solving skills
