The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting the Company’s multi-state tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities across a growing national footprint. This role will focus on state and local tax obligations, including income/franchise tax, sales and use tax, nexus considerations, registrations, apportionment, and related compliance requirements, while partnering closely with Finance leadership and external advisors to ensure accurate, timely filings and strong internal controls.
This is a highly collaborative individual contributor role requiring strong technical state and local tax experience, sound judgment in interpreting jurisdictional requirements, and the ability to communicate tax implications clearly across functions in a fast-growing, multi-entity organization.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and support federal, state, and local tax filings, with an emphasis on multi-state income/franchise tax, sales and use tax, gross receipts, property tax, and other jurisdiction-specific returns.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors to support compliance, research, and tax planning initiatives.
- Assist with tax provisions, audit support, and related documentation.
- Monitor and interpret changes in tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Support the integration of newly acquired entities from a tax compliance perspective.
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting and Finance to ensure accurate tax reporting and alignment with financial close processes.
- Contribute to process improvements and documentation to enhance tax controls and efficiency as the organization scales.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive tax experience, with significant exposure to multi-state tax compliance in a multi-entity or growth-oriented organization.
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance requirements.
- Experience working with external auditors or tax advisors.
- Experienced in accounting software and tax reporting tools. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical tax matters into clear guidance for business partners.
- A collaborative and proactive approach, building strong working relationships across Finance, Operations, and external advisors.
- Sound professional judgment and discretion in handling confidential financial information.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
This position may also be eligible to participate in Lakefield’s annual incentive bonus program, subject to eligibility and plan terms.
