Research Analyst

Research Analyst sought by Sands Capital Management, LLC in Arlington, VA. 40 hrs./wk. Hybrid schedule – Employee can work from home 2 days per week but must work in-office at least 3 days a week. Must live within commuting distance of Arlington, VA office address.

• Develop key insights that lead to long-term investment recommendations.
• Articulate and share key insights to translate into value-added portfolio actions.
• Screen new ideas and conduct industry landscaping for public equity investment ideas within emerging markets.
• Develop and recommend investment ideas, focusing on companies operating in emerging markets.
• Execute discrete projects to assess and analyze relevant companies’ strengths and weaknesses relating to business models, growth drivers, industry trends, competitive advantages, financial strength, management team/execution, and historical operating track record using the Firm’s investment criteria.
• Develop and build complex financial models to assist when making investment decisions.
• Draft investment case summary documents for companies under serious investment consideration.
• Conduct research activities in Mandarin when appropriate and/or necessary for companies in China, including sell‑side analyst meetings, management meetings, interviews, industry conferences, site visits, review of trade and financial journals, and analysis of financial filings.
• Closely follow existing investments where the Analyst is the lead research person: monitor industry trends, company results, management touchpoints, competitive analysis, etc.
• Collect and track pertinent company, industry, and portfolio level data over time.
• Actively participate in weekly Investment Team and Strategy Team meetings, sharing research views, updates, and potential investment actions.
• Participate in Management and select Client Service/Business Development efforts.

• Minimum education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Management, Economics, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Minimum experience:
  
  4 years in a related role such as Research Analyst, Investment Analyst, Equity Analyst, or similar.
• Special requirements: 4 years of fundamental investment research of global companies, 4 years in Emerging Markets, 4 years in equity research, 4 years in global equity research.
• 4 years of communicating research findings through verbal and written communication, including PowerPoint presentations, written email communications, reports, and data input into Fact Set.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin.

Up to 40% domestic and international travel.

$200,000 to $250,000 per year.
