Provider Audit Intern
Job SummaryThe Provider Audit Intern works closely with the Provider Audit team to assist in projects and special assignments as needed for up to a 9‑month period.
Remote WorkThis position is eligible for Remote / Work from Home Opportunity. As a condition of employment, the physical work location must be in one of the 50 states or the District of Columbia.
Responsibilities- Work to obtain high‑level industry knowledge throughout the internship program.
- Develop a working knowledge of planning, organizing and coordinating the desk review/audit process.
- Develop a working knowledge of cost report reopenings and PRRB appeals.
- Perform analysis of cost report data to complete tentative settlements and straight‑to‑final settlements.
- Learn and assist in performing the cost report workload.
- Actively collaborate with members of the team to ensure department goals and timeliness are met.
- Follow procedures and instructions given by leadership and remain flexible to assignment changes.
- Enrolled in school or a formal education program.
- Participate in training activities and team meetings as assigned.
- Assist the department with administrative tasks.
- Assist the department with special projects, tasks, or duties.
- Contribute to the organization’s operations and processes while gaining experience that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Effective communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem‑solving, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Strong PC skills such as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, One Note, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Interest in pursuing continued education (e.g., CET credits).
- Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
- Three months’ work experience.
- Office environment.
- Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve.
- Requires prolonged sitting and telephone use.
- Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers, and printers.
- Infrequent lifting of up to 15 pounds.
- Infrequent stooping.
Salary Range: $15.66 - $20.61 hourly, with the base pay offered potentially varying based on geographic region, internal equity, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
