Description Summary

The Director of Leverage Finance Portfolio Management is a senior portfolio management role responsible for the management of a portfolio of commercial loans within the Leverage Finance group. Primary responsibilities include underwriting quality, portfolio monitoring and administration, cash flow analysis and modeling, capitalization, industry research, credit policy, and legal documentation, among others. The Director frequently collaborates with internal partners such as Relationship Management, Credit Administration, Capital Markets, Treasury Management, and other product partners to optimize customer relationships.

A Director level colleague is generally viewed as a subject matter expert in the industries they cover.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Underwrite complex commercial loans in accordance with Huntington credit policies.
  • Monitor a portfolio of commercial loans, proactively identifying emerging risks and escalation.
  • Handle portfolio administration, including management of delinquencies, collateral exceptions, borrowing base and covenant compliance, and product renewals.
  • Attend client calls (virtual or in-person) with Relationship Management and other bank partners.
  • Act as the secondary bank contact for the portfolio of covered clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market and industry trends.
  • Conduct industry and market research using numerous resources available.
  • Assist with training and/or mentoring analysts, associates, and associate directors.
  • Provide accurate and timely front‑end guidance to Relationship Management colleagues, drawing upon knowledge of Huntington credit policies and credit culture.
  • Review and negotiate credit documentation in consultation with legal counsel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in an underwriting or commercial banking environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal credit training.
  • Experience in the syndicated loan market.
  • Proficiency in S&P Capital IQ.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
Exempt Status

Yes (not eligible for overtime pay).

Workplace Type

Office (on‑site) with eligibility for flexible work arrangements, combining in‑office and remote work as specified by the hiring team.
